Letter of Permission (LOP) Request

Requests are reviewed individually and you will be notified with a decision by email. The process to evaluate an LOP request can take several weeks, so please factor this into your planning.

I declare, confirm and acknowledge that:

  • I understand that it is not recommended to be registered concurrently in courses at UBC and another institution and UBC will not provide academic concessions that result from scheduling conflicts.
  • I understand that a maximum of 12 UBC credits taken on an LOP can be applied towards my BCom degree.
  • I acknowledge that the LOP will specify a minimum grade requirement, and I must achieve this minimum grade and other conditions stipulated to be eligible for transfer credits for the course.
  • I understand that UBC policy (https://vancouver.calendar.ubc.ca/campus-wide-policies-and-regulations/attendance) states that students cannot be concurrently registered at another institution without the approval of their home faculty and have read all the considerations provided on the mybcom website.
  • I have already discussed any questions or concerns I may have with an Academic Advisor at the UGO.
  • It is my responsibility to have read and understood the guidelines for LOPs, including how to have the transfer credits applied to my academic record.
  • If I am approved for an LOP to attend an institution outside of Canada, I must register with UBC Safety Abroad https://safetyabroad.ubc.ca/
