VMock Privacy Policy for UBC

Before accessing the VMock service for the first time, it is important you review the following information prior to providing your consent to the release of your information.

VMock is an online service contracted by several UBC academic units to assist students in the development of their résumé. Additionally, some academic units incorporate VMock into student advising and resume development processes with the intent that students will use VMock as part of their learning and personal branding process.

On VMock, your resume is only viewable by you, specific UBC career centre staff, and people that you optionally elect to share it with (mentor / advisor) for feedback. Resume data is also utilized by VMock, in aggregate only, as part of the broad database set that the company uses to improve the effectiveness of its algorithms. No other parties have access to your information within the VMock service.

The VMock service is cloud-hosted, and your personal information within the service is stored in the United States of America. Your data is kept secure with encryption and other cybersecurity measures controlled by VMock. If you have any concerns about your privacy, you may elect not to use this service. If you already have an account and wish to remove it, please refer to the contact list below.

UBC collects your personal information under the British Columbia Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, section 26(c), and will only use it for the purposes outlined above. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the UBC unit relevant to your academic program:
